A Question of Freedom: What dilemmas must a lost young elephant face in a world weighted with the heavy footprint of mankind? A Question of Freedom unravels the emotional complexity surrounding elephant conservation and details the intricate balance between humans, elephants, and the ecology. It is no longer a question of freedom when elephant populations outnumber what the ecosystem can support. As human population growth increases in southern Africa, so does the need for food and land resources, resulting in a dramatic clash of needs between the two species. In this context, the film follows the poignant story of a young orphaned elephant faced with a desperate choice between freedom and domestication. Through his story, the film reveals the agonizing complexity of freedom and conservation in southern Africa.
